SECURE ACT and inherited IRA’s

The bill that passed Congress and is awaiting either a signature or veto by Trump limits the stretch to ten years is only applicable to deaths that occurred after 12/31/19? Does anyone know for certain? Thanks.

They could possibly push the effective date forward into the future, but they won’t bring it backwards.  I highly doubt it will be amended at all before it gets signed.  They could end up doing a “correction” to the date later on in order to move it forward into the future, but I kinda doubt it, the concept is simple enough. My mother passed in November and I am trying like the dickens to get the broker to complete the transfer before 12/31/2019 because I don’t want ANY CONFUSION over getting grandfathered in under the existing rules.
