Inherited IRA, 403b beneficiary account and Roth IRA BDA

Can you convert inherited IRA or 403b beneficiary accounts to a Roth IRA? Also there is a Roth IRA BDA account, is it possible to use that or create a new IRA Roth account?

  • Only a spouse beneficiary can convert an inherited IRA. A non spouse beneficiary cannot.
  • A non spouse beneficiary can do a direct rollover from an inherited 403b to an inherited Roth IRA BDA and a spousal beneficiary can roll over an inherited 403b to their own Roth IRA. Rollovers to an inherited Roth IRA from a pre tax account will be taxable.
  • Inherited Roth IRA accounts can only be combined if they are inherited from the same decedent and have the same RMD divisor.
