Roth limit include/exclude 401K rollover-conversion
My 21 year old earned $8449 in a 2019 summer internship. He rolled his $272 401K balance from the company first to a traditional IRA then a Roth.
Can he add $5727 more to a Roth? or $6000? or nothing?

He can make a 6000 regular Roth IRA contribution for 2019 up to 4/15. The conversion amount does not count for purposes of the regular Roth contribution limit.
