Client whose spouse just died age eighty receiving SS plus state teachers retirement. Surviving spouse receiving small SS check and civil service gov’t pension ( not railroad) applied for wife’s SS in that it is much larger. Was told he could not receive because he was receiving pension. Does not seem right and only response was one person on a call.
