IRA payable to the estate of the decedent, then distributed to charity
A decedent named his estate as beneficiary on his IRA. His Will indicates his entire estate goes to charity. What are the tax ramifications regarding the IRA being paid into the estate, then distributed to charity?

It will be taxable income to the estate, offset by a charitable deduction for the estate on Form 1041.
