Child Tax Credit
This question pertains to the child tax credit on my 2021 taxes. I am married and my wife and I are considering
filing separately for the 2021 tax year to take advantage of possible lower student loan payments. My understanding is that only one person(myself or my wife) can take the Child Tax Credit on our tax form if we file separately. If we file jointly we will be able to take a refundable $1500 credit for our child who is 14 years old($3000-$1500 advanced to us in 2021). My question is whether we will still be eligible for the same $1500 refundable child tax credit if we file separately or is the eligible amount reduced in some way by fling separately?
Thanks!
