QCD following partial RMD

A distribution from a traditional IRA is intended to satisfy a portion of the RMD. Can a QCD then be made, followed by the remaining amount of the RMD? The intention is that, in total, all three distributions do not exceed the RMD amount for the year.

Yes, this will work. You will have completed all your QCDs before you complete your RMD, which is what you need to do if you want all your QCDs to offset RMD taxable income.

Thank you.  I wanted to confirm this approach will work in using the QCD to offset RMD taxable income.
