Custodial FBO account- mistake in the name

Hi – I recently initiated an IRA transfer of common stock from my previous employer’s 401k rollover IRA account. Broadridge is listed as the transfer agent. When my brokerage is requesting an external transfer to request shares (via DRS system), my brokerage is told that the custodian listed on my account is ING. In fact the account statement reads custodian FBO -my name.

I tried getting this rectified, but my previous employer is saying that i need to work this out with my transfer agent. The transfer agent is asking me to contact ING. ING does not do business in USA and I do not have an account with them.

Any ideas on how to get this rectified?

Thanks- wikomm

The situation here is not clear to me. These shares are now in your IRA, and you want to have them distributed as a taxable distribution in kind to your brokerage account, is that right? Your prior employer should not be a party to this.
