Does Beneficiary have to take RMD if owner dies before April 1st?
Hi Guys,
Assume the original owner achieved his RBD “age” say 73, for example in November of 2024, but then he dies February of 2025 before getting to his “Required Beginning Date” of April 1st, 2025. He did not take an RMD.
In this case, do his beneficiaries NOT have to take his RMD because he died before reaching his actual “RBD”?
Thanks!

Yes, since death occurred prior to the actual RBD there is no year of death RMD obligation for the beneficiaries.
