IRA paid to the estate

Hi, I ask this before but I went and checked and the lady that passed away was 73 and taking RMD’s. What all can be done if the estate is the beneficiary ??? Thanks.

The inherited IRA RMDs are based on the remaining LE of the decedent (about 15 years). This also applies to the beneficiaries of the estate per the will or state intestate rules, therefore if the executor is able to assign the inherited IRA out of the estate to those beneficiaries, they can stretch it over decedent’s LE. And that’s longer than the 10 year rule!

Isn’t that under the old rules since there isn’t a 10 year period anymore ??
