New Jersey IRA beneficiary rules ??
In the state of New Jersey if I own an IRA do I have to name my spouse as beneficiary or can I name my adult children as beneficiaries? Does my spouse have to sign a written consent? Am aware that IRA’s are not governed by ERISA. Thanks in advance for your help!!

In NJ as in other common law states, you can name anyone or an entity as your IRA beneficiary. Your spouse should not have to sign a waiver.
