Roth 401k RMD
Secure 2.0 effective 1/1/2024 has eliminated RMDs for employer plan accounts.
questions
1. Is the Roth 401k account value used to determine the RMD amount?
2. Can a participant take funds earmarked for an RMD from Roth funds – if he/she doesn’t want to be subject to income tax?
Thank you

No, the designated Roth sub account is entirely excluded from RMD considerations starting in 2024. A distribution from that account will not be credited toward the pre tax account RMD like it could have been prior to 2024.
