Double Inherited IRA BDA Question

Hello,

I am calculating the RMD for a client account Elizabeth Pedersen. I am questioning if I should use the calculator for Beneficiary RMD or Spouse Inherited Beneficiary RMD. Elizabeth inherited this IRA from her husband who inherited it from someone else. The account is nearly depleted, I just don’t know if it’s based on the ten year rule (the original depositor passed away 9/28/2013) or if we go by the spouse’s date of death which was 2/3/2022. Would Elizabeth follow the 10 year rule at this point?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The 10 year rule applies to Elizabeth, but annual annual RMDs are only required continuing the RMD schedule of her husband if the original owner passed after their RBD in 2013. If those annual RMDs are required using the husband’s RMD schedule and divisors, the divisors should be reset to reflect the new 2022 RMD single life table as if that table applied in 2014.
