Inherited Bene IRA – RMD
A friend inherited a Bene IRA from her husband who passed in 2022. Her deceased husband inherited the same IRA from his mother in 2013. I’m assuming the mother was taking RMD’s so the son had to do the same. My friend did not take an RMD in 2022 or 2023 from the Bene IRA but took RMD’s from her own Traditional IRA.
My question is: Does she have to take the RMD directly from the Bene IRA acct, or can the RMD from her own traditional IRA account satisfy the Bene RMD?
Thank you!

Any RMDs for the inherited IRA must be taken from the inherited IRA. Nothing about the inherited IRA is permitted to be combined with your friend’s own IRAs.
