HSA Contribution at age 65
Married couple, both will enroll in Medicare at age 65. Husband’s prior employer covers both under a group retiree plan for supplement.
Wife turned 65 on 4/1/24 and husband turns 65 on 11/25/25.
It’s my understanding for 2024 HSA contributions the husband can make a pro rata contribution using the Family plan contribution limit ($8,300 full year) which would allow him to make a 2024 pro rata contribution of $6,916, also a pro rata contribution for his catch up allowing $833.33. His wife could also make a pro rata catch up allowing $249.99.
Am I messing anything or wrong on my assumptions??
Yes, both will turn on Medicare at 65.
