Inherited IRA- 60 days
Can a client do a 60 day rollover of her inherited IRA? Instead of a direct transfer to another financial institution can someone withdraw from their Inherited IRA cash and within 60 days write a check to another financial institution and the transaction not be taxable?
Why are we doing this? The delivering financial institution is not accepting the paperwork from the other online custodian.
Ughhh

A non spouse beneficiary cannot do a 60 day rollover. Has the receiving custodian correctly processed the transfer request? If so, and the holding custodian does not cooperate with a direct transfer, the problem should be elevated to senior staff. Is the holding custodian a life insurance company?
