Inherited Roth IRA RMD
I can’t seem to get this straight….If a son age 50 inherits a Roth Ira from a Dad who was 76 and was taking RMDs on the traditional …is the son required to take a RMD on the Roth also?..thank you so much for your time.

No, because Roth IRAs do not have RMDs for owners, the owner always passes prior to the RBD. Therefore, the son does not have to take annual RMDs in years 1-9 of the 10 year rule, just needs to drain the account by the end of year 10. That provides 10 years for the entire Roth balance to grow tax free.
On the other hand, son will have to take annual RMDs from the inherited traditional IRA and also drain that in year 10.
