IRA RMD and Inherited RMD be combined
If a client has to take out 100k from his personal IRA’s and he has to take out 2k from an inherited IRA:
If he takes out 102k from his personal IRA, which is 2k more than he had to:
- does he still have to take out another 2k from the inherited IRA?
- or does the extra 2k from his personal IRA cover the RMD for the inherited IRA?
Thank you,
Douglas

Owned IRA RMDs cannot be combined with inherited IRA RMDs. In this case the 2k inherited IRA RMD must still be distributed from the inherited IRA.
I am assuming that the inherited IRA is not from a deceased spouse.
