QCD

QCD – If your RMD age is 73 do you need to wait till 73 to make a QCD? Or is the age still 70 1/2 ?

Dose the check to the charity need to go out first before making other contributions?

The QCD eligible age remains 70.5 even though RMDs do not start until later. I think you are asking about other distributions, not contributions. Once an RMD distribution year arrives, any QCDs should be completed prior to the RMD being completed, because once the RMD is completed a later QCD will not reduce the tax on the RMD.

But otherwise, there is no required order. A partial RMD could be taken and then the QCD would complete the RMD.

Generally, QCDs should be completed prior to December, particularly if you have IRA check writing and write your own checks rather than the IRA custodian.
