QCDs can only be be made to qualified 501(c)3 organizations. An additional limitation is that QCDs can’t be made to Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). Private donation accounts aren’t qualified. Other than the restriction against DAFs, the qualifying organizations (those 501(c)3) are generally the same to which donations could be made and deducted as an itemized deduction on Schedule A.
