RMD INHERITED ROTH IRA
Hi,
For this new year i want to take out my RMDs on a Roth IRA I inherited. I am a EDB, and I was born 10/67. Original owner was born 7/62, passed away 12/21.
1) So it would be my 2025 Rmd based on my 12/31/24 Roth IRA ending balance correct?
2) What would my single life divisor be?
3) It would the 12/31/24 ending Roth IRA Balance / the divisor correct? To get the amount I have to take out correct?
4) If let’s say the 12/31/24 Roth IRA Balance was a $1000 how much would I have to pay? How would I figure it out?
Thanks so much!!!

Your 2025 beneficiary RMD divisor is 28.6, divided into the 12/31/2024 inherited Roth balance.
If that balance was 1000, your RMD would be 3,497.
Of course, you were also required to take beneficiary RMDs in 2022-2024.

Hi, if I have $1000 balance in the account I wouldn’t be able to take out $3497, so I’m assuming it’s $34.97 is that correct?
1) Can I take that RMD and put it into my Roth IRA Immediately? (Provided I meet the normal Roth IRA criteria for contributions).
2) I’m not allowed to put the RMD into a Roth 401K plan is that correct?
Thanks sooo much!!!

Yes, good catch. It’s 34.97, as I misplaced the decimal point.
You cannot roll over the RMD, but you can use it to fund a regular Roth IRA contribution subject to the income requirements.
Same with a Roth 401k, which you can only fund with earned income and Roth IRA distributions can never be rolled into a Roth 401k. However, the inherited Roth IRA distribution may allow you to afford making a higher deferral amount in your Roth 401k.
