April 1st IRA Required Beginning Date Deadline for RMDs

It’s April 1st – and it’s no April Fools that it is an important day for IRA owners who turned age 70 1/2 in 2013. Ed Slott and Company IRA Technical Consultant Jeffrey Levine details what those IRA owners need to know about this special IRA deadline in the IRAtv video below (can’t watch video? click here to watch in browser).

If someone who turned age 70 1/2 did NOT take their first mandatory required minimum distribution (RMD) last year, they MUST take it by today (April 1) as well as their 2014 RMD by year end. Levine discusses the nuts and bolts of what you need to know in the video below.
