We are ready to welcome another group of dedicated financial professionals to Ed Slott and Company's 2-Day IRA Workshop, Instant IRA Success, which begins this Thursday from the spectacular Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California.
Ed Slott's Elite IRA Advisor Group is a membership group of financial advisors who are committed to their IRA education and serving their clients' best financial and retirement planning interests. At our last workshop this May in Dallas, Texas, Ed Slott and Company IRA Technical Consultant Jeffrey Levine spent some time with several members to get their perspective on the educational expertise they receive and how it has elevated their standing in the industry and enhanced their business. Below are two roundtable discussions with seven members of Ed Slott's Elite IRA Advisor Group.
The IRS issued a News Release (IR-2013-43) that gives a three-month tax filing and payment extension to Boston area taxpayers and others affected by the bombs at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15th. The new deadline is July 15, 2013.
Ed Slott and Company is spending two full days talking about the new tax laws, IRAs, retirement distribution planning and more during our 2-Day IRA Workshop starting tomorrow in Orlando. We took some time in the video below to talk about the new tax laws (American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012) and key planning strategies and dates clients and their tax team should be aware of when filing their 2012 tax returns.
A Washington, D.C. district court handed down a ruling that affects all of us as the 2012 tax season gets underway. The court ruled in Loving et al vs. IRS that the Internal Revenue Service did NOT have the authority to regulate persons who prepare or help prepare tax returns for a fee. They couldn't order these individuals to pass a test or maintain a minimum required level of competency.
IRS released a revenue procedure (Rev. Proc. 2013-15) on Friday that set forth inflation adjusted items for 2013 and other items whose values for the coming year are specified in the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. IRS welcomed the addition of the new 39.6% income tax bracket, the beginning income levels for the limitation on certain itemized deductions and the beginning income levels for the phaseout of personal exemptions.
The new tax provisions within the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 make some subtle, if not substantial, changes to income tax rates, the top estate tax rate, capital gains rates for upper-income earners and more. Click to learn how these changes may impact you.
Year-end retirement planning is in full swing. We are less than a week away from Christmas and in two short weeks 2013 will be here. Financial advisors and their clients are working hard to develop a proactive plan to guard against rising taxes. Ed Slott has your answers on gifting, RMDs (required minimum distributions) and QCDs (qualified charitable distributions) in three year-end planning videos found below.
The Slott Report's Election Week 2012 coverage is coming to a close, just as a "mega" storm has its eyes set on the Northeast and Election Days is just 11 days away. We hope you refer back to our coverage all week to determine what IRA, tax and retirement planning issues you should read up on before the Election and watch out for no matter who comes out victorious.
This week's
Slott Report Mailbag shows that retirement planning involving IRAs can be complicated, and consumers just like you are confused about the rules and concerned they are making fatal, penalty-induced errors.
