K1 Correction Options

We have a client that in 2017, our custodian setup the account under the wrong SSN. They actually set it up to report under the trustee’s SSN as opposed to the TIN of the trust. We discovered the issue via the 1099 and were able to get it corrected.

Now we’ve run into an issue where the holdings in the account forced two K1 (Form 1066) forms to be issued with obviously a wrong TIN. However, they are issues by the investment, not the custodian. What is generally the best way of getting something like this corrected if even possible? Our custodian is telling us that it can’t be fixed through them (which makes sense). However, as far as the company who issues it is concerned, THEY didn’t make the error and the investment was held to the SSN they issues it to technically.

Any help is appreciated!

Andrew
